Vision and Intent for Design and Technology

Through delivery of the design and technology curriculum, we strive for children to become design technologists themselves, whether this is within a lesson or in their future learning and lives. We create planned opportunities to nurture children’s creativity and curiosity, allowing every child to have opportunities and first-hand experiences to ripen their love of design and technology.  We want the children to respect the profession of designers, engineers and creators. We are committed to narrowing the attainment gap for disadvantaged and pupil premium children and want all children to have a passion for design and technology and to develop skills which they can aspire to use throughout life to become positive citizens.  

We will ensure children experience, understand, use and remember ambitious key vocabulary.  We want children to develop knowledge and understanding of the process of designing, creating and evaluating. And to make links between design and technology and other subjects in addition to understanding the role of the subject within our local community.
